The buyers who plunked $140 million to buy a waterfront office building in Miami’s Brickell financial district are backed by a large Brazilian contractor, public records show.

Alliance Re Holdings LLC bought the property at 777 Brickell Ave., according to a deed transfer document recorded Tuesday. The deal for the 288,485-square-foot office tower and an adjacent five-story parking garage closed Feb. 12. The 13-story building is on a 3.78-acre lot overlooking Brickell Key.
