A Fort Lauderdale jury sided with the wife and estate of a longtime smoker against cigarette maker Philip Morris USA.

After a 13-day trial, the Broward Circuit jury on Friday awarded $17.4 million in damages to Vickie McKeever and the estate of Theodore McKeever, a Davie man diagnosed with emphysema and lung cancer after smoking Philip Morris cigarettes for more than six decades.
