America’s largest provider of home-security systems lost a major legal battle against a competitor it accused of trademark infringement and alleged deceptive trade practices.

On Tuesday, a federal jury in West Palm Beach decided Salt Lake City-based Alarm Protection Technology LLC’s name and its acronym, APT, do not cause confusion with the name of ADT LLC, a publicly traded company based in Boca Raton.
