Longtime Akerman trial attorney Christine Welstead has been named chair of the firm’s Miami litigation practice, one of the few women to head a litigation group nationally.
Welstead, who has worked at Akerman for 20 years, succeeds Michael Chavies, who continues as chair of the firm’s diversity and inclusion committee and returns to his full-time law practice. He is in line to become the 78th chair of the Orange Bowl Committee.
