Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Daryl Trawick got into law because of calculus and the McDuffie Riots.
He grew up in Plainfield, New Jersey, and made up his mind to flee the cold the day the temperature dropped to 4 below, “with the wind chill factor it was 50 below, and I had to walk a mile to school,” he said. “After I got to school that day and got thawed out, I said, ‘I’ve had it! I’m going to Miami.’ ”
