The only Haitian-American judge in Miami-Dade Circuit Court faces an election challenge, raising concerns in African-American and Caribbean bar associations.

Milena Abreu, a Miami criminal defense lawyer and part-time traffic hearing officer, has filed to run for the seat occupied by County Court Judge Fred Seraphin. He has not filed to run for re-election, but several supporters said he plans to.
