The Florida Bar board of governors voted Friday to maintain the Frye standard of expert evidence in state courts, rejecting the stricter Daubert standard ordered by the Legislature, used in federal court and favored by defense lawyers, public defenders and the business community.

The board voted 33-9 to reject Daubert, accepting the recommendation of the Bar’s code and rules of evidence committee.
