Richard Morrison, managing partner of the Miami office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges and a law firm employee for 27 years, died of a heart attack, a firm spokeswoman said. He was 56.

The Miami native spent his legal career in his hometown after graduating from the University of Florida Levin College of Law. He led the New York firm’s Miami office for a decade, recruiting nearly all of its 17 lawyers. He also headed the firm’s public finance and real estate practice in Miami, representing banks, bond purchasers and developers.
