Miami-Dade County commissioners voted 9-3 to urge the Obama administration to skip Miami when picking sites for Cuban consulates.

The resolution’s sponsor, Esteban L. Bovo Jr., whose father was a Bay of Pigs veteran, acknowledged discussing commerce with Cuba is in vogue, but he thought the commission should preempt the idea of opening a Cuban consulate in the county.
