A lawyer whose client was sentenced to 60 years in prison by Broward Circuit Judge Matthew Destry for a probation violation is challenging him for re-election after the case inspired a change.org petition.
Fort Lauderdale criminal defense attorney Brian Greenwald, 36, filed papers Tuesday to run against Destry. He was appointed to the bench in 2008 and filed to run for re-election last November.
