A Fort Lauderdale federal judge has fined two Carlton Fields Jorden Burt attorneys for advising retired basketball star Shaquille O’Neal not to attend a mediation session when his presence was required.
U.S. District Judge James Cohn last week ordered lawyers Benjamine Reid and Jeffrey A. Cohen to pay sanctions of $13,058 to cover travel costs for the plaintiff who sued O’Neal and the time the plaintiffs attorneys spent preparing for the mediation.
