Insurance brokers who allegedly failed for years to notify an insurance company of a potentially costly claim must pay $1 million for the mistake, a Miami federal jury decided.
Workers’ compensation carrier Guarantee Insurance Co. sued Heffernan Insurance Brokers Inc. and Socius Insurance Services Inc. after finding out the companies hadn’t notified Guarantee’s secondary insurer of an injured roofer’s lawsuit.
