U.S. Commerce Department officials celebrated reaching an agreement on the Trans Pacific Partnership trade treaty last month, but some presidential candidates are questioning whether it and other trade agreements truly benefit the U.S. economy.
Free-trade agreements are significant to Florida, which is home to about 30,000 import-export businesses and funnels a third of all U.S. exports to Latin America and the Caribbean.
