Fort Lauderdale-based Greenspoon Marder has opened an office in New York City in an attempt to do what few Florida firms have done successfully — conquer the biggest and highest-priced legal market in the country.

The law firm acquired the nine-lawyer litigation boutique Jacob, Medinger & Finnegan with its office in Rockefeller Center on Friday. Greenspoon picked up six new shareholders including managing partner Keelin Kavanagh, one of counsel and two associates.
