The Palm Beach Circuit Judicial Nominating Committee said Monday it is seeking applications to fill a vacancy left by Circuit Judge Amy Smith, who resigned after suffering a brain injury and nine years on the bench.

Smith suffered a head injury after being discovered unconscious at home in November and remained in intensive care for about six weeks. She had a long hospital stay to treat a brain aneurysm before returning to work.
