A former Broward County union president, who was imprisoned for five years on a federal corruption conviction, believes he should have been paid for a simultaneous job at an auto tag agency — but a judge disagreed.

Walter Browne claimed he was owed more than $10 million based on a contract he signed with United Auto Dealers Association of Florida Inc. and owner Kenneth Strochak, who now owns several other auto tag agencies. Browne did contract work for the companies when he was leading the 7,000-member local union representing school custodians, city truck drivers and jail guards in the National Federation of Public and Private Employees.
