A jury awarded a seven-figure damage award to a man who sued Miami Gardens police for false arrest and use of excessive force.
Michael Asia claimed police did not have probable cause to arrest him when he was stopped while he was riding his bicycle in 2010. Asia’s attorney alleged several officers detained him and struck him in the head and body multiple times when he wasn’t resisting.
