The state Judicial Qualifications Commission recommends a public reprimand and a written apology for Broward Circuit Judge John Contini, who faced an ethics investigation after emailing a public defender with sentencing tips.

The recommendation released Thursday also calls for a stress management program with Dr. Scott Weinstein, clinical director of the Florida Lawyers Assistance program, and three years of “continued active judicial mentoring” with an adviser selected by Broward Chief Circuit Judge Peter Weinstein. The Florida Supreme Court has the final word on judicial discipline.
