A Miami jury awarded about five times the original claim to homeowners who sued their insurer after a neighbor’s illicit marijuana grow house exploded on a quiet suburban street.
The jury gave homeowner Janette Verde-Ballester and her husband, Pedro, $150,000 after they originally sought about $40,000 to repair their property.
