A physician has been cleared of liability in a disability discrimination case.
Patient John Herbold, who is deaf, claimed dermatologist John Cottam discriminated against him based on his disability, alleging the physician failed to provide a requested sign language interpreter for a 2011 office visit. After a second request, an interpreter was present for a second visit but not at the patient’s surgery or follow-up visits.
