The Florida Supreme Court on Friday ordered Gov. Rick Scott to let an empty judicial seat in Palm Beach County Court be filled by election rather than appointment.
West Palm Beach criminal defense attorney Gregg Lerman challenged the governor’s decision to appoint a new judge through the Judicial Nominating Commission after County Court Judge Laura Johnson resigned in April.
