Miami City Commissioners backed a resolution Thursday directing city administration to study the Building Department’s permitting process, “particularly for smaller projects and for those applicants who do not utilize a third-party permit expediter,” the resolution said.

The item was introduced by Commissioner Francis Suarez, who said he’s received innumerable complaints from small developers struggling to keep up with costs associated with a delayed permitting process.
