Ocean Bank’s business model is to invest in its community. So when senior vice president Juan Carlos Barreto negotiated a roughly $17 million loan to reposition a shopping plaza into two charter schools, the bank was doing just that.

Once renovated, the Margate shopping center at the intersection of Coconut Creek Parkway and Banks Road will benefit the community with new educational facilities and breathe life into a previously underperforming plaza, Barreto said.
