White & Case represented San Jose, California-based SunPower in a financing deal worth more than $200 million to build a solar power plant in northern Chile that will power a subway.

The 100-megawatt El Pelicano photovoltaic power facility will supply power to Santiago’s underground railway network, Metro de Santiago. The metro, which currently serves 2.2 million passengers per day, will become the first public transportation system in the world to run mostly on solar energy.
