When the new CEO and executive board of one of Venezuela’s largest hospitals called its Miami-based equipment purchasing subsidiary to demand an audit, the manager hung up.
The audit and lawsuit that ensued uncovered millions in theft through a variety of schemes—and purchases of luxury goods, ranging from high-end jewelry and art to exotic knives and an Aston Martin DBS worth more than $100,000, attorneys said.
