South Florida federal prosecutors won high honors from the U.S. Attorney General for investigating drug trafficking and for helping obtain full restitution for investors in Scott Rothstein’s Ponzi scheme.
U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch on Thursday gave an Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Law Enforcement to Assistant U.S. Attorney Marton Gyires and several South Florida law enforcement partners for Operation Driving Dirty. The operation included the prosecution of 50 people involved in drug trafficking and the seizure of $30 million and large quantities of cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and synthentic marijuana.
