What began as a countywide mandate to include affordable units in all new residential developments has morphed into a voluntary, incentive-driven program for builders who choose to address Miami-Dade County’s affordability crisis.
The workforce housing ordinance, which the County Commission passed Tuesday, rewards developers who include workforce housing units, or residences priced for families earning 60 percent to 140 percent of the area’s $48,100 median income.
