During the campaign, Donald Trump pledged to “dismantle the Dodd-Frank Act and replace it with new policies to encourage economic growth and job creation.” Passed in 2010 when memories of the 2008 Wall Street meltdown were fresh, Dodd-Frank focuses on regulations protecting consumers and preventing predatory lending.

Since taking office, the new president continues pressing for financial deregulation, including abolishing the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau.
