In a ruling with implications across the state, the Florida Supreme Court on Thursday blocked a small pari-mutuel track in Gadsden County from offering slot machines.

The court upheld a decision by the First District Court of Appeal and gambling regulators at the state Division of Pari-Mutuel Wagering denying a permit for slot machines at Gretna Racing. Attorney General Pam Bondi recommended rejecting a permit after Gadsden County voters approved a referendum to allow the machines.
