It's an understatement to say Mac Irvin enjoys a wee dram of single-malt Scotch whisky. Obsessed may be more like it.
Irvin, a labor lawyer with Irvin Bowen Hale-Smith, has tried almost 200 different types of single-malt Scotch, and he's traveled to Scotland at least a dozen times to sip the spirit in person.
Irvin's wife, Jan, assists his avocation in at least two ways through her position as a teetotaler. When Mac and Jan visit whisky distilleries, Jan will forgo her free sample at the end of the tour so Mac can drink it. Later, she will take the wheel as designated driver.
