A Dodge County pharmacy has agreed to pay $2.175 million to settle a Medicare false-billing case in what authorities in Georgia's Southern District say is their largest civil recovery ever under the Controlled Substances Act, as well as the largest pharmacy-related False Claims Act settlement in the district's history.

A Dodge County pharmacy has agreed to pay $2.175 million to settle a Medicare false-billing case in what authorities in Georgia's Southern District say is their largest civil recovery ever under the Controlled Substances Act, as well as the largest pharmacy-related False Claims Act settlement in the district's history.
The settlement between Rhine Drug Co. and its owner and pharmacist, Andrew “Carter” Clements Jr., and the government was announced Tuesday by the office of the Southern District's acting U.S. attorney, James Durham.
According to the announcement, the settlement resulted from an investigation by the Health and Human Services' Office of the Inspector General, Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Attorney's Office.
