The Metro Atlanta Task Force for the Homeless shelter at the corner of Peachtree and Pine streets will be closed after reaching a confidential settlement allowing Central Atlanta Progress to buy the property.

The agreement ends years of litigation that pitted the shelter against several adversaries, including CAP, the Downtown Business Improvement District and investors who bought the property at foreclosure in 2010 and have been trying to evict it ever since.

Gray, Rust, St. Amand, Moffett & Brieske partner Matthew Moffett, who represents would-be investor Emanuel “Manny” Fialkow, said the settlement terms are confidential and that he's prohibited from discussing it. Online news site Atlanta Progressive News reported Wednesday that the settlement involved a $9.7 million payment.
