Practice Profile: Buchanan has been lead counsel in more than 200 prosecutions of over 40 federal crimes, including violent crimes, crimes involving child exploitation and organized crime cases involving national gangs.

Buchanan is one of a handful of federal prosecutors to fully prosecute cases involving the support of foreign terrorist organizations and attempts by would-be domestic terrorists to acquire weapons of mass destruction. Days after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Department of Justice initiated the Anti-Terrorism Advisory Council (ATAC) to provide and exchange terrorism-related information. Buchanan was named ATAC coordinator for the Northern District of Georgia.
