Stacey Abrams, 43, said she's been thinking about running for governor of Georgia since around 2011, but her resume reads like she's been preparing for it her whole life.

She is a child of two ministers who moved from Mississippi to Atlanta as divinity students at Emory University, raising her with a focus on school, church and public service.

She graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta, the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin and Yale Law School.
