A federal judge in Atlanta has dismissed a proposed class action suit against Turner Broadcasting System and CNN, slamming the racial discrimination complaint as “littered with conclusory assertions, rank speculations, confusing statements and generalized allegations that lack factual support.”

In a 50-page order finding for Turner, parent company Time Warner and CNN, U.S. District Judge Willam Duffey Jr. also criticized the two plaintiffs' “fast-and-loose approach to their complaint”—evidenced, he said, by a reference to TBS' ownership of the Atlanta Braves baseball team.

“As Atlantans know and a simple Google search reveals,” the judge offered pointedly, “the Atlanta Braves are owned by Liberty Media, not TBS.”
