The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform sent out a scathing review Monday of Georgia as a litigation venue.

The group said the state made its “worst showing ever” in the annual poll, dropping from 24 out of 50 five years ago, to 40 out of 50 now.

“The rapid decline of Georgia's lawsuit climate should serve as a red flag for lawmakers and other state officials,” Lisa Rickard, the institute's president, said in a news release. “Sustaining the state's economic growth will only grow more challenging with a legal environment in free fall.”
