The St. Thomas More Society held its annual Red Mass on Oct. 12, based on the 750-year-old tradition by which churches prayed for courts and justice.

Dozens of judges, including members of the federal and state appeals courts, came to the ceremony at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. After the mass, led by Archbishop Wilton D. Gregory and Bishop Bernard E. Schlesinger III, clergy, judges and lawyers moved to the Capital City Club for a luncheon.

The group honored Justice Michael Boggs of the Supreme Court of Georgia and Steven Gottlieb of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society.
