A former student who was raped at gunpoint in her Savannah State University campus apartment won a $10 million verdict in Chatham County State Court Wednesday.
“Our client deserves every bit of it,” said attorney James Durham of Savage, Turner, Durham, Pinckney & Savage in Savannah. “She had to relive on the stand 30 minutes of hell.”
Durham had just left his job as acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Georgia and joined the high-profile plaintiffs firm at the beginning of October. It was his first civil trial.
