Senate Approves Trump's Attorney Pick for Middle Georgia

Charles Peeler (Photo: John Disney/ALM) The U.S. Senate approved President Donald Trump's nomination of Charles Peeler as U.S. attorney for the Middle District of Georgia during an executive session on Thursday evening.
“Charlie Peeler will help enforce and carry out our nation's laws with skill and dignity,” Sen. Johnny Isakson, R-Ga., said in a news release Thursday evening. “President Trump made a wise decision in nominating him, and I am proud that he will be serving our state and nation in this important role.”
The Middle District of Georgia includes 70 of Georgia's 159 counties with a population of approximately 1.6 million, Isakson said.
Peeler lives in Albany and is a partner with a firm he co-founded in 2005, Flynn Peeler & Phillips. His practice is focused on complex civil litigation and federal criminal matters. Previously, he worked in Atlanta at King & Spalding, where he handled intellectual property litigation.
Peeler has a B.S. in biochemistry and molecular biology from the University of Georgia and a J.D. from the University of Georgia law school. He was appointed by district court judges in the Middle District of Georgia to serve on the local rules advisory committee. Georgia Govs. Sonny Perdue and Nathan Deal appointed Peeler to serve on the state Judicial Nominating Commission.
