Beazer Homes has a new top lawyer—the third in nearly 11 years.

The Atlanta-based homebuilder announced Monday that it has named Keith Belknap as the publicly traded company's executive vice president and general counsel. He succeeds Kenneth Khoury, who joined Beazer in early 2009 after a two-year stint as the GC at Delta Air Lines.

Belknap most recently served as the top lawyer at Mueller Water Products Inc. for more than five years. Prior to that, he was as GC at PriMedia Inc., a digital media and real estate advertising company. He also has held senior in-house positions at PPG Industries Inc. and Georgia-Pacific, according to a Beazer statement. Belknap began his legal career at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, where he practiced for 11 years, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Neither Belknap nor a Beazer spokesperson could be reached for comment Tuesday about the move. According to the company statement, Belknap's succession of Khoury is “part of a planned transition of Mr. Khoury's responsibilities that will lead to his eventual retirement. Khoury remains with the Company and will continue managing the Company's Human Resources and Information Technology functions.”

Khoury was hired about two years after the company fired its former GC, Kenneth Gary, “for a pattern of personal conduct which includes violations of company policies.”

Beazer operates in 13 states, with 2017 revenue of more than $1.9 billion. An online member search of the State Bar of Georgia shows six members at Beazer, not including Belknap.

Belknap holds degrees from the University of Tulsa and Harvard Law School.
