There will be a public hearing during Wednesday's meeting of the Fulton County Commission on a plan to hike the process serving fees charged by the Fulton County State and Magistrate courts.

“The Clerks of the State Court of Fulton County and the Magistrate Court of Fulton County have determined that the current fee schedule does not recoup the actual costs incurred in the service of process,” said a release announcing the hearing.

The new fee schedule will hike the current $25 fee for service of process against defendants in civil actions in state court to $50, except in garnishment actions or those against tenants holding over.

The costs for serving defendants in tenants holding over cases in both courts will rise from $25 to $35.

The fee for applying for, executing, or applying and executing a dispossessory against tenants holding over will increase from the current $60 to $75.

The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. during the commission meeting in the Assembly Hall at 141 Pryor Street SW.
