A gaggle of law firms—large Am Law firms and local boutiques alike—have been busily minting new partners in Atlanta. The promotions below are on top of those the Daily Report already detailed earlier this month.

All promotions are effective Jan. 1, 2018.

Litigation boutique Bondurant Mixson & Elmore has promoted Robert Ashe III to partner. Ashe represents both plaintiffs and defendants on issues involving politics, local governments and governmental authorities, particularly the City of Atlanta, metro Atlanta governments and the Georgia General Assembly. He has advised the election campaigns for former Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and his successor, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. Ashe successfully represented Bottoms in a vote recount challenge by her opponent, Mary Norwood, who lost the election by fewer than 900 votes. He has been the board chair of MARTA since 2014, after being appointed to the board in 2010 by Reed and the Atlanta City Council.

Smith, Gambrell & Russell has elected four lawyers to partner, with two in its Atlanta headquarters, Perry McGuire and Nick Rueter. McGuire has a corporate practice handling M&A, franchise and government affairs matters. McGuire is a founder of the State Bar of Georgia's franchise and distribution law section and serves on the legal and legislative committee of the International Franchise Association. Rueter handles corporate and transactional matters for his domestic and international clients, while also serving as a general business and legal adviser. He is outside general counsel to the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership. Rueter is on the advisory board of ArtsATL and volunteers with the Pro Bono Partnership of Atlanta.

Arnall Golden Gregory has elected two new partners, Cristina Bouton and Doug Smith. Bouton has a real estate practice, representing developers in commercial real estate transactions and negotiating retail and office leases for landlords and tenants. Smith handles employee benefits and executive compensation, including tax analysis for executive compensation arrangements.

Kathy Harrington Sullivan has made partner at plaintiffs employment firm Barrett & Farahany, which she joined in 2015. Sullivan manages case evaluations for the plaintiffs employment. In addition to her law degree, Sullivan is a registered nurse, a registered mediator and a trained EEO investigator.

Duane Morris has promoted John Gibson to partner in Atlanta, out of nine new partners firmwide. Gibson handles intellectual property litigation, focused on telecom and other high-stakes commercial litigation.

Parker Poe Adams & Bernstein has made Micheal Binns and Karen Carroll partners in Atlanta, out of four promotions firmwide. Binns is an intellectual property lawyer who handles patent and trademark prosecution as well as patent litigation. Carroll handles IP litigation, focused on pharma and biotech-related patents.

In Savannah, Bouhan Falligant has promoted Andrew Dekle to partner. Deckle handles civil litigation as well as corporate law, employment law, collections and bankruptcy matters. He is a member of the W. Homer Drake Jr. Georgia Bankruptcy American Inn of Court and a graduate of Leadership Savannah.

Eversheds Sutherland has promoted Jeremy Spier to counsel in Atlanta, out of six new counsel firmwide. Spier practices intellectual property law, focused on patent and trademark procurement. That follows the firm's announcement of 17 U.S. partner promotions, including four in Atlanta.
