Gov. Nathan Deal announced appointments Wednesday of three new judges to the Georgia Court of Appeals.

The new judges will fill openings created by President Donald Trump's nominations of two judges to federal court, and one retirement.

Ocmulgee Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge E. Trenton “Trent” Brown III will replace Judge Tilman “Tripp” Self III, who has already moved to the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia.

Elizabeth Gobeil, State Board of Workers' Compensation director and appellate division judge, will fill the vacancy created by the appointment and confirmation of Judge Elizabeth Branch to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.

Dougherty Judicial Circuit Superior Court Judge Stephen S. Goss will replace Judge Gary Andrews, who is to retire at the end of July.

The appointments will take effect upon swearing in.

One of Trump's nominees is still waiting to be confirmed by the U.S. Senate, so another new judge could be named soon from the same list of candidates the Judicial Nominating Commission sent the governor for these.
