Like some others on the short list, Asha Jackson has the advantage of having already been appointed by Gov. Nathan Deal, who appointed her to the DeKalb County Superior Court in February 2012. And she has demonstrated she can keep the seat. She was elected without opposition in 2014.

Before her appointment to the bench, Jackson was a partner practicing commercial litigation at the Atlanta office of Barnes & Thornburg. Before that, she practiced tort litigation and professional negligence at the Atlanta office of Carlock, Copeland & Stair.
