On Sept. 13, members and friends of the legal community gathered at the law firm of Warner Bates in Atlanta for the annual Atlanta Volunteer Lawyer Foundation's Guardian ad Litem event. This year's event raised $25,000 in sponsorships and $4,350 in tickets and other donations. That's nearly $30,000 to ensure that Fulton County children in high-conflict divorce cases will have someone by their side to defend them. Safe and Stable Families director Jamie Perez and Fulton Superior Court Family Division Judge Christopher Brasher were the featured speakers at the event and gave moving comments on the importance of AVLF's Safe families and Guardian ad Litem programs. "I volunteered to serve on the Family Division because we have a real chance to help families and improve the outlook for the children involved," said Brasher. "AVLF's Safe Family and Guardian ad Litem Programs have been working to accomplish these goals since they began. Their great efforts contribute directly to any success our court has in making a positive difference for families."
