Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton is hosting the statewide legal hotline and command center for the Election Protection Coalition to provide free legal help to Georgia voters for any problems they encounter at the polls today in the highly charged midterm elections.

The hotline number is 866-OUR-VOTE. Areas of assistance include confirming voter registration status and polling place locations and responding to voter suppression activities or other impediments to voting, such as precinct closures, equipment malfunction or long wait times.

About 80 trained volunteers from Kilpatrick and other firms are staffing the hotline from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. In addition to those at the command center, located at Kilpatrick's Midtown headquarters at 1100 Peachtree St., N.E., more than 180 poll monitors and mobile field attorneys are on the ground at key metro Atlanta precincts in DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett, Cobb and Clayton counties.

Election Protection, led by The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, is partnering with the Georgia Coalition for the People's Agenda for the nonpartisan voter protection effort.

The local effort hosted by Kilpatrick is part of The Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Laws' national effort to protect voting rights. Volunteer lawyers and staff from almost 100 large firms are participating in the group's national Election Protection effort.
