On behalf of the State Bar of Georgia, I am writing to salute the Atlanta City Council for its recent action to name its council chamber in honor of former Fulton County Superior Court Judge Marvin S. Arrington Sr., who served as the council’s president for 17 years.

During his distinguished career in the legal profession, beginning in 1970, Judge Arrington was a devoted practicing attorney and public servant. He served from 2002 until 2012 as a Fulton County Superior Court judge, having been appointed by former Gov. Roy Barnes. In 1998, he was presented with the prestigious Chief Justice Robert Benham Award for Community Service.
