Baker & Hostetler has recruited another partner from Dentons, Douglas Eingurt, who has an M&A and corporate finance practice.

Right before Denton's 2015 merger with McKenna Long & Aldridge, Ohio-based Baker & Hostetler transformed its Atlanta office from a small 11-lawyer intellectual property outpost into what is now a large full-service office by landing a group of 30 health care and corporate lawyers from McKenna. Eingurt's hire gives Baker & Hostetler 78 lawyers in Atlanta.

Eingurt's focus is middle-market M&A matters in the health care, sports and entertainment industries. He also advises private equity funds on fund formation and portfolio company acquisitions and sales. He joined Dentons' predecessor firm McKenna in 2007, after earning a J.D. from Emory University.

“I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to work again with many familiar colleagues, friends and clients as I join BakerHostetler,” Eingurt said in an announcement on April 15.

Litigation defense firm Swift, Currie, McGhee & Hiers has added six lawyers to its Atlanta office this year, continuing its growth spree. Last year the firm added 45 lawyers, bringing its attorney head count to 150. This month Thea Nanton-Persaud joined as a senior attorney from Sponsler, Bishop, Koren & Hammer, a Tampa workers' compensation defense firm, and Christine Lee joined as an associate from Law & Moran. In February and March, four other associates joined: Lauren Meadows from Carlock, Copeland & Stair; Molly O'Connor and Hannah Beth Reynolds from Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith and Raqketa Williams Brown from Allstate.

After 21 years as a partner at Troutman Sanders, labor and employment practitioner Mike Kaufman has rejoined former colleague Charlie Hawkins at The Hawkins Firm. Hawkins, also a labor and employment lawyer, left Troutman in 2016 to start the firm.

Kaufman has represented the Fox Theatre and public utilities in the Southeast in negotiations of their collective bargaining agreements. Over his 42 years in practice, he's also handled anti-union campaigns, defended numerous wage and hour suits, including class actions, and tried many employment discrimination suits to verdict in Georgia and other states.

He is also an adjunct professor at the Charleston School of Law.

After four years in Prague in the Czech Republic, Rocky Babson has joined The Bader Law Firm, a plaintiffs firm handling personal injury, auto accident and workers compensation cases. In Prague, Babson was a lecturer on American law for Charles University's Faculty of Laws.

Before heading to Central Europe, he served as general counsel of Pegasus Steel in Charleston, South Carolina, and before that he had his own plaintiffs firm in Atlanta. Babson also served more than a decade as a security forces sergeant for the U.S. Air Force, based in Charleston.

Savannah's HunterMacLean has recruited tax partner Rob McGuirk and, in its Brunswick office, litigation partner Randall Jordan. McGuirk is now the chair of HunterMacLean's tax practice after serving as the executive director of tax for Quest Diagnostics, where he spent 11 years. McGuirk is also a C.P.A.

Jordan joined HunterMacLean from his own St. Simons Island firm, The Jordan Firm. He is a business litigator focused on transportation and logistics matters, which includes defending railroads in toxic tort, product liability and personal injury claims. In his more than 30 years as a trial lawyer, he has tried more than 100 jury cases in state and federal courts around the United States.

Also in Savannah, Andrew Walcoff has joined Bouhan Falligant as a litigation attorney from King & Spalding in Atlanta, where he was counsel. Walcoff handles data-privacy and pre-litigation issues, such a records management and discovery. He is certified as an Information Privacy Professional/Europe by the International Association of Privacy Professionals. Walcoff also holds a master's degree in architecture, planning and preservation from Columbia University.

Gordon Berger has joined FisherBroyles as a partner in its labor and employment and litigation practices from Atlanta-based labor and employment firm FordHarrison. Berger has more than 25 years' experience representing management in employment, contracts and business disputes.

Jarred Klorfein has joined Caplan Cobb as an associate after 2½ years at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in Washington, D.C. The Atlanta native also clerked for Judge Donald Middlebrooks of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Caplan Cobb handles business disputes, constitutional tort litigation and appellate advocacy.

Carin Miller has joined intellectual property boutique Johnson, Marcou & Isaacs as an associate in the biotech practice from another Atlanta IP firm, Thomas Horstemeyer. Miller, who has a Ph.D. in animal sciences and molecular biology from Virginia Tech, specializes in patents involving agricultural biology, molecular biology, agriculture and animal-related inventions.

Nick Kemper has joined Chamberlain Hrdlicka as an associate from Mahaffey Pickens Tucker in Lawrenceville. Kemper is in the corporate, securities and finance practice.

The University of West Georgia's College of Social Sciences has recognized alumnus Cary Ichter with its annual Achievement Award. Ichter practices litigation and serves as a special master at Ichter Davis.
