Georgia Supreme Court Justice John Ellington is recovering from a fall from his roof that left him with several broken bones, a court spokeswoman confirmed.

Ellington, 58, “broke a few bones, but he is doing well and expects a full recovery,” spokeswoman Jane Hansen said Thursday.

Ellington was injured in a fall on May 19 and is currently in physical therapy, Hansen said. She did not elaborate on the nature of his injuries or the accident.

Ellington will be back on the bench “as soon as possible,” Hansen said.

In the meantime, Hansen said Ellington “is fully engaged in all the court's cases.” The court currently makes video recordings of all oral arguments.

Ellington was elected to the state's high court last year after 19 years as a judge on the Georgia Court of Appeals.

He and his wife live on a farm in Treutlen County, southeast of Macon.
