Eight years after a 14-year-old boy was sexually assaulted at a youth detention campus in Augusta, the state has agreed to pay him $1.5 million to settle claims against several current and former Department of Juvenile Justice employees.

The plaintiff, identified as “N.T.” in court filings also was the target of several beatings and attacks both before and after being raped in a shower by a 17-year-old resident.
